Star Wars Outlaws – TSG Review

A galaxy far, far away… from what it should’ve been.

🎮 Gameplay Mechanics

At its core, Star Wars Outlaws is a third-person, open-world action game with mild stealth elements. The combat loop works, but it’s generic—think cover-based shooting with occasional button prompts to feel edgy. There’s nothing here that innovates or excites. Enemy AI is basic, mission structure is repetitive, and progression feels pointless. Upgrades barely impact the experience, and there’s never a moment where I felt like I was growing into the role of an outlaw. Honestly, I never even felt like an outlaw.

📖 Story & Narrative

Let’s put it this way: I played the game and still don’t know what the story was really about. Something something criminal underworld, maybe revenge? It’s all a blur—forgettable and soulless. Characters are flat, emotional arcs are non-existent, and player choices don’t matter. It felt like watching the filler episode of a forgettable sci-fi series, except I paid $70 for the privilege. There are Star Wars references and cameos, sure—but they feel more like marketing tools than meaningful parts of the world.

🎨 Graphics & Art Style

It looks… fine. Some environments are nice, but there’s no visual identity here that makes it stand out from other sci-fi titles. The Star Wars charm is missing. No unique flair. I noticed some minor stuttering and pop-in, but nothing catastrophic. Just like the rest of the game: technically functional, artistically uninspired.

🎵 Sound & Music

The soundtrack is passable but forgettable. No iconic music moments, no earworms, no adrenaline-pumping themes. Sound effects do their job but don’t impress. Voice acting is serviceable—no one stands out, but no one ruins it either.

⚙️ Technical Performance

Performance was mostly smooth. Some bugs here and there, but nothing game-breaking. Load times were reasonable. UI was clean but unremarkable. The game felt rushed in places, with immersion-breaking animations and a lack of polish in mission structure and enemy design.

🔁 Replayability & Content

Almost non-existent. Once the main story ends, there’s little reason to come back. No alternate paths, no strong emergent gameplay, and no real reason to replay unless you’re a die-hard Star Wars completionist.

💰 Value for Money

For $70, this game gives you a short, flat campaign, underwhelming upgrades, and no memorable moments. There are cosmetics and the usual Ubisoft extras, but none of it justifies the full price tag. It feels like Star Wars Outlaws relied entirely on the name “Star Wars” to sell a half-baked product.

🎉 Fun Factor

I had fun a handful of times, mostly during early encounters or when I first entered a new area. But that faded fast. The rest of the experience felt like checking boxes. At no point did I feel immersed in the world or connected to my character’s journey. It’s Diablo 4 without Diablo—a hollow shell of what it could’ve been.

⚖️ Who Should & Shouldn’t Play

✅ You might like this if:

  • You’re a massive Star Wars fan who doesn’t mind mediocrity.
  • You enjoy basic open-world checklists and don’t care about story.

❌ Skip this if:

  • You’re looking for a meaningful Star Wars experience.
  • You expect narrative depth, RPG-style progression, or real outlaw freedom.
  • You care about getting your money’s worth.

🧠 Final Thoughts

Star Wars Outlaws is what happens when you slap a legendary name on a lifeless product. No lightsabers, no Jedi, no Force—not even a strong outlaw fantasy. Just a checkbox-driven game that feels like it was designed by committee. I didn’t hate it, but I sure didn’t enjoy it. If this is the future of Star Wars games under Ubisoft, I’ll be sticking to the classics.
